Job Summary
This residential faculty position begins Fall, 2022.

Location: Williams Campus & Pecos Campus

Provides instruction in anatomy and physiology courses in alignment with CGCC's college goals and learner-centered instructional philosophy to a diverse student population. Uses multiple methods and modalities of instruction, assessment and appropriate technologies to engage students and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to rigorous curriculum, innovative strategies for teaching and learning, collaboration, service excellence and professional development.

Essential Functions
  • Supervises, instructs, evaluates, and monitors learning of a diverse population of students in classroom, lab, online, or field settings using a variety of learning strategies such as cooperative learning, service learning, instructional technology, or other as appropriate. Reviews, revises, and develops curriculum. Is available on campus to support and mentor adjunct faculty. Maintains office hours to assist and advise students.
  • Actively participates in service to the college that contributes to the support of student learning. Service includes involvement in district-wide, campus and departmental committees, activities, and initiatives.
  • Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual skills required to stay current with new trends and developments in the field, including attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A master's degree or higher in biology or a biology related discipline OR a master's degree or higher in a medical or health related discipline (i.e. MD, PA, DVM, DPM, DO, DC, DDS, ND), OR a master's degree in education, with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in a Biological or Life Science Area. Acceptable disciplines and coursework include but are not limited to: Agricultural Sciences, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Bioinformatics, Biology/Science Education (maximum of six (6) graduate credits can be applied to the eighteen (18) required), Biomedical Sciences, Biosciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Conservation-Wildlife/Plant/Animal, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Evolutionary Biology, Embryology, Entomology, Environmental Science, Environmental Biology, Ecology, Genetics, Immunology, Limnology, Mammology, Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, Medical Sciences, Microbiology - Soil/Medical/Veterinary, Molecular Biology, Mycology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Nutritional Sciences, Ornithology, Pathology, Pathophysiology, Parasitology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physical Therapy, Physiology, Plant And Animal Sciences, Public Health - Epidemiology/Infectious Disease/Toxicology, Veterinary Sciences, Virology, Zoology.

2. EDU250 -Teaching and Learning in the Community College-or equivalent must be completed within two years of date of hire

Desired Qualifications
  1. Master's degree or doctorate in biology or biology-related discipline with or without an advanced degree in education
  2. Experience teaching human anatomy and physiology courses (3+ sections/semester) at the college level within the last five (5) years. Dual enrollment courses are not considered college level in this search.
  3. Demonstrated experiences including substantive descriptions and/or comparisons of teaching pedagogies utilized in multiple modalities (face-to-face, asynchronous online, live (synchronous) online, hybrid, and/or learning communities, etc.)
  4. Demonstrated experiences with substantive descriptions and examples of active learning strategies in both lecture and lab content including measurable student impact.
  5. Demonstrated experiences with examples including detailed descriptions of value added to instruction using current and emerging technologies that promote student understanding in the context of anatomy and physiology instruction.
  6. Demonstrated experiences with examples in student interactions, and student support (academic) including student outcomes (success or failure) within populations who have been historically marginalized in biology or STEM fields of interest.

  • May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
