Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Microbiology and Lab Tech

Responsibilities: The successful applicant will teach two courses (6 credits) each semester in microbiology and chemistry. These assignments may require teaching day or evening classes as needed. Courses could include introductory chemistry and general chemistry labs. Other duties associated with the position include participating in course, curriculum, and program development; advising students and providing career guidance; and participation in campus, university, and community service activities.

It also is expected that the successful applicant will engage in activities to stay current in the discipline. The position also requires managing science labs: ordering of supplies and oversight of lab cleanliness and organization; knowledge of safety guidelines and coordinator with EHS; prepping labs. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.

Qualifications: A PhD in biology or microbiology is preferred, but candidates with Master's degrees will be considered. Prior college-level experience preferred, but is not required. Candidates must be committed to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment and have an enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary setting. Interest in active and collaborative learning, and the instructional use of technology also is important.
