SCIENCE FACULTY (INSTRUCTOR) – TENURE TRACK
Omak, Washington

Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to teach college-level biology and chemistry classes. Additional responsibilities of the position include curriculum development, scheduled office hours, participation in department meetings, college committees and task groups, assessment of learning outcomes, advising of students for degree and career success, and other related duties as assigned by the administration.

Essential Functions:
Provide exceptional classroom and laboratory instruction in majors and non-majors science courses including, but not limited to biology, human anatomy and physiology, and chemistry.
Participate actively in the development, implementation, and monitoring of practices that promote a safe classroom and laboratory learning environment.
Collaborate collegially in the review and improvement of departmental processes, course materials, teaching methodologies, and assessment methods in order toincrease student success in the sciences, including closing achievement/opportunity gaps between demographic groups.
Incorporate pedagogies that support best learning practices for all students, particularly underrepresented and underserved students.
Maintain equity and inclusion at the foundation of shared governance, committee work, and college vision and mission.
Engage in academic andequity scholarship, including critical epistemologiesand continuous improvement activities that complement and inform teaching.
Actively participate in student academic advising and mentoring students, especially those from underserved groups.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in biology, chemistry or related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:
Successful post-secondary teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting.
Familiarity with current issues and developments in the life sciences.
Evidence of investment in professional growth and development in the area of equity and inclusion.
Experience creating digital content (such as Word/PDF documents and web and learning management system content as appropriate to the role) in accessible formats.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Salary and benefits:
Salary is determined by placement on the Wenatchee Valley College full-time faculty schedule (currently $58,235 to $65,044 for a 9-month, 175-day contract).
