Detailed Job Description
The Thomas H. Gosnell School of Life Sciences (GSoLS) at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position starting in August 2021. We seek a colleague who is well-versed in genomics or other high-throughput omics-based approaches to study fundamental biological processes as part of an ongoing effort to enhance our reputation in this area to support teaching, research and scholarship.

The Assistant or Associate Professor is expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct the research of students at the undergraduate and masters levels, interact with a dynamic group of biologists, bioinformatics, ecologists, and evolutionary biologists, become an active participant in establishing a PhD program in the Biological Sciences that complements one of RIT's strategic areas of growth, contribute to curricular improvement, and perform school and university service. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected, and those using innovative pedagogical approaches are encouraged to apply. The specific courses taught will depend on expertise. A Ph.D. and postdoctoral training (or equivalent professional experience) in a biological, environmental science, or related field is required. In line with our commitment to improving diversity and inclusivity in the sciences, we are actively seeking to increase representation of faculty from historically underrepresented groups and we especially encourage scientists who are members of underrepresented groups to apply. Candidates applying at the rank of Associate professor must have a documented history of achievement that merits appointment at that level. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a strong track record of publication in high-quality journals and their capacity to incorporate the in-house next-generation sequencing systems into their current and future research.
