Required Qualifications (As evidenced by attached resume):
Bachelor degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in engineering, physics, biological sciences, material sciences or a related field of science. Two (2) years experience in the operation and maintenance of electron microscopes and sample preparation.

Preferred Qualifications: Post graduate degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in engineering, physics, biological sciences, material sciences or a related field of science. Experience in cryo-EM and computational image processing.

Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University is seeking a talented, motivated and highly interactive individual to manage our cryo-EM facility. The facility house's a Thermo Fisher Scientific, 200kV Talos Arctica with a Falcon 3EC direct electron detector, along with all standard equipment for sample preparation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the facility, general lab maintenance, sample preparation, user training, and managing supplies deliveries, scheduling and billing, and facilities infrastructure for the instruments. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with internal users and external researchers with prior approval from supervisors in cryo-TEM-focused research projects. The candidate will also help support resource development and the development of grant applications for funding of these platforms. They will have good communication and interpersonal skills.

Maintain the instruments and ensure smooth operation of the facility, including managing facility inventory
Scheduling, billing and training new users
Assist in data collection and data analysis
Assist with teaching/scientific demonstrations, manuscript writing and grant applications
Other duties as necessary

Special Notes: This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
