Adjunct Faculty- Microbiology

The School of Health Sciences at Lasell University seeks an adjunct professor to teach (1) section of Microbiology and (1) Microbiology Laboratory in the Fall 2023 semester.

The courses will meet in person:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00-9:15 PM (BIO211.A)
Tuesdays 11:00-1:30 PM (BIO 211.LA)

Course Title: Microbiology

Description:

This lecture and laboratory introduce the microbial world and the laboratory techniques required for its study. Topics include the basic characteristics of fungi, algae, bacteria, and viruses. Topics and applications that relate to humans are emphasized. Prerequisite: BIO101. Corequisite: BIO211L

Course Title: Microbiology Laboratory

Description:

This laboratory course supports and reinforces the concepts presented in the Microbiology lecture. Corequisite: BIO211

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide in person instruction for all sessions of assigned courses utilizing the university's philosophy of connected learning
Align course assignments with departmental learning outcomes and university core curriculum learning outcomes; provide student work samples for assessment purposes
Incorporate Canvas (learning management system) into the course
Maintain office hours each week
Keep accurate records of student progress and complete mid-semester and final grade reports

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should have M.S, M.Ed., or equivalent (PhD preferred) in related field
Prior undergraduate-level teaching experience
Strong communication skills, ability to provide mentorship and guidance remotely by email, phone and or video call, and willingness to offer extensive feedback on student work Required
