Microbiologist, Assistant/Associate Professor, Tenure-Track

Description
The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences seeks a full-time faculty colleague to teach lectures and laboratories for medical microbiology (nursing) and upper-level cellular/molecular biology-related courses. Senior seminar, introductory biology and Integrative Core courses (general education program) are also anticipated. Additional courses may be developed/assigned based on expertise and departmental need. The successful candidate will be poised to develop a research program to engage undergraduate students, to serve as an advisor to majors and minors, and to support colleagues in curriculum development and review. Biology majors can choose from more than 30 courses, complemented by a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities, including at our nearby Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center. Service to the University and community are required. This position is required to complete assigned compliance training as communicated by the University.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:  PhD in microbiology or closely related field. Degree must be completed before August 1, 2022 for initial appointment as a tenure track faculty.  College or university teaching experience Experience working with various BSL-1 microorganisms and preparing media  Dedication to student-centered learning  Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity  Preferred Qualifications:  Experience from small, liberal arts institutions  Postdoctoral research experience  Experience developing, managing, assessing new courses in the biological sciences  Experience with online education
